Quotes On The UFO Cover Up

"We had a job to do, whether right or wrong, to keep the public from getting excited."

Dr J Allen Hynek
Director of the US Air Force top secret project Blue Book.

"The phenomenon of UFOs is real. I know that there are scientific organisations which study the problem. It must be treated seriously."

Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev

__________________________________________________________

"Behind the scenes, high-ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, many citizens are led to believe that unknown flying objects are nonsense."

Roscoe Hillenkoetter
Former CIA Director in a public statement, 1960.

"More than 10,000 sightings have been reported, the majority of which cannot be accounted for by any 'scientific' explanation, e.g. that they are hallucinations, the effects of light refraction, meteors, wheels falling from aeroplanes and the like. They have been tracked on radar screens and the observed speeds have been as great as 9,000 mph.

I am convinced that these objects do exist and they are not manufactured by any nation on earth.

I can therefore see no alternative to accepting the theory that they come from an extraterrestrial source."

Air Chief Marshall Lord Dowding
Commanding Officer of the RAF during WWII.

"And don't tell me they were reflections, I know they were solid objects."

Lieutenant D. A Swimley
US Air Force, commenting on a sighting of eight disc shaped objects he and several fellow officers watched circling over Hamilton Air Force Base, California, on August 3, 1953. The objects were also picked up on radar and spotted by many civillian pilots. F-86 Sabres were scrambled to intercept the objects, but the jets were apparently too slow

"The security guard called and said, 'Sir, there's a glowing red object hovering right outside the front gate. I've got all the men out here with their weapons drawn.'"

"We lost between 16-18 ICBMs (nuclear tipped Inter Continental Ballistic Missiles) at the same time UFOs were in the area. (A high ranking Air Force officer) said, Stop the investigation; do no more on this and do not write a final report."

"I heard that many of the guards that reported the incident were sent off to Vietnam."

Captain Robert Salas
US Air Force, during a videotaped interview for the Disclosure program.

"It was the darndest thing I've ever seen. It was big, it was very bright, it changed colours, and it was about the size of the moon. We watched it for ten minutes, but none of us could figure out what it was.

One thing's for sure: I'll never make fun of people who say they've seen unidentified flying objects in the sky."

Former President of the United States, Jimmy Carter following his sighting along with many others of a UFO at Leary, Georgia in October 1969.

"The Air Force had put out a secret order for its pilots to capture UFOs.

For the last six months we have been working with a congressional committee investigating official secrecy concerning proof that UFOs are real machines under intelligent control."

Major Donald Keyhoe during a live TV broadcast on CBS in 1958 in which he was pulled from the air when he began to deviate from the prepared format of the programme.

"The UFO was bouncing around the 747. (It) was a huge ball with lights running around it.

Well, I've been involved in a lot of cover-ups with the FAA. When we gave the presentation to the Reagan staff, they had all those people swear that this never happened. But they never had me swear it never happened. I can tell you what I've seen with my own eyes. I've got a videotape. I've got the voice tape. I've got the reports that were filed that will confirm what I've been telling you."

John Callaghan
FAA Chief of Accidents and Investigations during a videotaped interview for the Disclosure program.

"My own present opinion, based on two years of careful study, is that UFOs are probably extraterrestrial devices engaged in something that might very tentatively be termed 'surveillance'."

Dr James McDonald
Senior physicist at the Institute for Atmospheric Physics and professor in the Department of Meteorology at the University of Arizona before Congress in 1968

"When the long awaited solution to the UFO problem comes, I believe that it will prove to be not merely the next small step in the march of science, but a mighty and totally unexpected quantum leap."

Dr J Allen Hynek
Former Director of the US Air Force top secret project Blue Book.

"I strongly recommend that there be a committee investigation of the UFO phenomena. I think we owe it to the people to establish credibility regarding UFOs and to produce the greatest possible enlightenment on this subject."

Former US President Gerald Ford

"Look, I have a pension to worry about. I have a family to take care of, and they told me to just back away from this entirely or else."

Astronaut James Irwin
Apollo 15, to Frank Stranges after backing out of speaking at a 1976 UFO convention where he was going to "inform us of the strange things he saw on the surface of the moon."

"We have no proof but if we extrapolate based on the best information available to us, we have to come to the conclusion that other life probably exists out there and perhaps in many places."

Neil Armstrong
NASA Astronaut, first man on the moon. October 21, 1999.

"Statistically it's a certainty there are hugely advanced civilizations, intelligence, life forms out there. I believe they're so advanced they're even doing interstellar travel. I believe it's possible they even came here."

Storey Musgrove
NASA Astronaut

"I concentrate on the science. I'm interested in the UFOs seen by the police and military witnesses. I'm interested in the near misses that pilots report, where their aircraft nearly collide with these things. I'm interested in the visual sightings backed up by radar. I'm interested in the military bases that are overflown by these things. I'm interested in the cases where you have radiation readings on the ground.

These are no lights in the sky. These are not mis-identifications of fantasy prone individuals. This is a cutting-edge technology being reported by reliable, trained observers, and it is something that goes beyond what we can do.

That to me suggests that if it is not ours, it belongs to someone else. If that technology is better than ours, then the extraterrestrial hypothesis seems to me the best explanation."

Nick Pope
Head of the "UFO desk" at Air Secretariat 2-A, British Ministry of Defence from 1991-1994.

"I know other astronauts share my feelings.... And we know the government is sitting on hard evidence of UFOs."

Colonel Gordon Cooper
Mercury Nine, Gemini Five Astronaut

In December 1965, Gemini astronauts James Lovell and Frank Borman saw a UFO during their second orbit of their record-breaking 14 day flight. Borman reported that he saw an unidentified spacecraft some distance from their capsule. Gemini Control, at Cape Kennedy told him that he was seeing the final stage of their own Titan booster rocket.

Borman confirmed that he could see the booster rocket all right, but that he could also see something completely different.

Lovell: BOGEY AT 10 O'CLOCK HIGH.
Capcom: This is Houston. Say again 7.
Lovell: SAID WE HAVE A BOGEY AT 10 O'CLOCK HIGH.
Capcom: Gemini 7, is that the booster or is that an actual sighting?
Lovell: WE HAVE SEVERAL...ACTUAL SIGHTING.
Capcom: ...Estimated distance or size?
Lovell: WE ALSO HAVE THE BOOSTER IN SIGHT...

James Lovell
Gemini 7 Astronaut

I have discussed this matter with the effected agencies of the government, and they are of the opinion that is it not wise to publicize this matter at this time.

Senator Richard Russell
Head of the Armed Services Committee, following his sighting of a UFO during an official trip to the Soviet Union in 1955.

"I believe that these extraterrestrial vehicles and their crews are visiting this planet from other planets which obviously are a little more technically advanced than we are here on Earth.

I feel that we need to have a top level, coordinated program to scientifically collect and analyze data from all over the earth concerning any type of encounter, and to determine how best to interface with these visitors in a friendly fashion....For many years I have lived with a secret, in a secrecy imposed on all specialists and astronauts. I can now reveal that every day, in the USA, our radar instruments capture objects of form and composition unknown to us. And there are thousands of witness reports and a quantity of documents to prove this, but nobody wants to make them public."

Colonel L. Gordon Cooper
Mercury and Gemini Astronaut, in an address to the UN in 1985 after announcing that he had seen and chased UFOs over Germany in the 1950s. Cooper also reported a greenish object, which passed by his capsule going east to west (opposite normal man-made orbits) while in orbit in May of 1963. The object was tracked by ground-based equipment in Perth, Australia. The press was told it could not question Col. Cooper on this aspect of the mission.

"This 'flying saucer' situation is not at all imaginary or seeing too much in some natural phenomena. Something is really flying around. The phenomenon is something real and not visionary or fictitious."

General Nathan Twining
Chief of Staff, US Air Force, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff

"The evidence that there are objects which have been seen in our atmosphere, and even on terra firma, that cannot be accounted for either as man-made objects or as any physical force or effect known to our scientists, seems to me to be overwhelming. A very large number of sightings have been vouched for by persons whose credentials seem to me unimpeachable.

It is striking that so many have been trained observers, such as police officers and airline or military pilots. Their observations have in many instances have been supported either by technical means such as radar or, even more convincingly, by interference with electrical apparatus of one sort or another."

Lord Hill-Norton
Chief of Defence Staff, Ministry of Defence, Great Britain, 1973; Chairman, Military Committee of NATO, 1974-77.

"We have indeed been contacted-perhaps even visited-by extraterrestrial beings, and the US government, in collusion with the other national powers of the Earth, is determined to keep this information from the general public. "

Victor Marchetti
Former Special Assistant to the Executive Director of the CIA, in an article written by him for Second Look entitled "How the CIA Views the UFO Phenomenon Vol 1, No 7," Washington, DC, May, 1979.

"The Air Force has arrived at the conclusion that a certain number of anomalous phenomena has been produced in Belgian airspace.

The numerous testimonies of ground observations reinforced by the reports of the night March 30-31 (1990) have led us to face the hypothesis that a certain number of unauthorised aerial activities have taken place.

The day will undoubtedly come when the phenomenon will be observed with the technological means of detection and collection that won't leave a single doubt about its origin.

This should lift a part of the veil that has covered the mystery for a long time; a mystery that continues to be present.

But it exists, it is real, and that in itself is an important conclusion."

Colonel Wilfred De Brouwer
Chief of Operations for the Belgian Air Force in 1990 following a spate of sightings over the country witnessed by hundreds of people. Many of the sightings were confirmed on radar.

"I was amazed at what I saw. The amount of debris that was scattered over such an area... The more I saw of the fragments, the more I realized it wasn't anything I was aquainted with. In fact, as it turned out, nobody else was aquainted with it. There was a coverup some place about this whole matter."

Major Jesse Marcel
U.S. Army Intelligence Officer in a videotaped interview. Among the first to arrive at the crash site in Roswell, Marcel was well acquainted with all the weather balloons launched by the 509th Bomb Group - including the Mogul balloons - of which the U.S. Government claims accounts for the Roswell wreckage.

"There were orders to ship the material from Roswell directly to Wright Field by special plane."

Colonel Thomas Jefferson Dubose
Adjutant to Brig. General Roger Ramey at the time of the Roswell Incident, in a statement which contradicts the official story that the material was first flown to Fort Worth, Texas, where Ramey posed with Major Marcel and pieces of a weather balloon for the media.

"Wright Patterson Air Force Base was the headquarters for the foreign technology division of the U.S. Air Force. It later became the headquarters for the alien technology division of the U.S. Air Force.

Wright Patterson, for many many years was the central repository of not only the hardware, but some of the little bodies and even some of the living crew members who had been retrieved. It became very clear after a time that there wasn't enough room at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. We literally filled up hangar after hangar with hardware.

We're storing it now in at least three different Air Force bases and much of it is being kept underground at a place not too far from Las Vegas just beyond Nellis Air Force Base which is repeatedly refered to as Dreamland, Groom Lake, or Site 51. That site today is one of the biggest repositories of hardware."

Sergeant Major Robert O Dean
Former NATO intelligence analyst for SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe)

"The evidence points to the fact that Roswell was a real incident and that indeed an alien craft did crash and that material was recovered from that crash site" says Mitchell, who became the sixth man on the moon in the Apollo 14 mission. Mitchell doesn't say he's seen a UFO. But he says he's met with high-ranking military officers who admitted involvement with alien technology and hardware.

Cooper told a U.N. committee recently that every day in the U.S.A., our radar instruments capture objects of form and composition unknown to us. Cooper speculates that public skepticism toward UFOs will shift dramatically.

Astronauts Gordon Cooper and Ed Mitchell in an interview.

"It followed us during half of our orbit. We observed it on the light side, and when we entered the shadow side, it disappeared completely. It was an engineered structure, made from some type of metal, approximately 40 meters long with inner hulls. The object was narrow here and wider here, and inside there were openings. Some places had projections like small wings. The object stayed very close to us. We photographed it, and our photos showed it to be 23 to 28 meters away."

Cosmonaut Victor Afanasyev
Commenting on a UFO sighting that occurred while en route to the Solyut 6 space station in April of 1979.

"Flying saucers are real. Too many good men have seen them, that don't have hallucinations."

Captain Eddie Rickenbacker
"American Ace of Aces," medal of honor-winning commander of the 94th Aero Pursuit Squadron in WWI

"There was something definite in the sky...If it had proved to be hostile we would have destroyed it."

Major Gerald Smith
US Air Force. One of the F-106 pilots scrambled under orders from NORAD (North American Air Defence Command) to investigate a UFO over West Palm Beach, Florida on September 14, 1972. The UFO was viewed through binoculars by the FAA supervisor, George Morales, sighted by an Eastern Airlines captain, police and several civilians, as well as being tracked on radar by Miami International Airport and Homestead AFB.

"The phenomenon is something real and not visionary or fictitious. There are objects approximating the shape of a disc, some of which appear flat on bottom and domed on top. These objects are as large as man-made aircraft and have a metallic or light-reflecting surface. Further they exhibit extreme rates of climb and maneuverability with no associated sound and take action which must be considered evasive when contacted by aircraft and radar."

Commanding General Nathan F Twining
Air Material Command, US Air Force in a declassified letter to the Pentagon.

"I shall be very glad to accept appointment as a member of the (NICAP) Board of Governors and be listed as a 'believer' in the reality of UFO's, with the understanding that I shall resign if it appears at any time that your big group is being used to cover up for the top brass.

I know that there is a real need to break through the official Washington brush-off and get the truth home to the people. There seems to be a great fear among the powers that be that the American people will panic if told the truth. How little they know and understand their countrymen.

I feel that millions of our people already believe in the reality of the UFO's."

Admiral M Herbert B Knowles
US Navy

"I've changed my position in the last two or three years - the last two years to be precise - to suggest that the evidence is strong enough that we really need to have serious open discussion and release of information that it is quite clear the government and other governments do hold, and that this become a part of our official knowledge...

Now, whether it's true or not, it deserves to be handled with a serious investigation. There is too much smoke here not to be fire, and so I personally in the last couple of years have come out - I don't know the answers, but I've come out - and I say, this has gone far enough. If it's real, let's get it out in the open; let's break the deadlock that bureaucracy has on this.

There is enough evidence pointing in the direction that clearly there is information being withheld. How far we can go with it, I don't know."

Edgar Mitchell
NASA Astronaut, Apollo 14 lunar module pilot and founder of the Institute of Noetic Sciences

UFOs are real and they may come from outer space....photographs and various materials show scientifically that there are more advanced people piloting the saucers and motherships."

General Kanshi Ishikawa
Chief of Air Staff of Japan's Air Safety Defence Force, in a statement in 1967.

"For many years I have lived with a secret, in a secrecy imposed on all specialists in astronautics. I can now reveal that every day, in the USA, our radar instruments capture objects of form and composition unknown to us. And there are thousands of witness reports and a quantity of documents to prove this, but nobody wants to make them public.

Why? Because authority is afraid that people may think of God knows what kind of horrible invaders. So the password still is: We have to avoid panic by all means."

"I was furthermore a witness to an extraordinary phenomenon, here on this planet Earth. It happened a few months ago in Florida. There I saw with my own eyes a defined area of ground being consumed by flames, with four indentations left by a flying object which had descended in the middle of a field. Beings had left the craft (there were other traces to prove this). They seemed to have studied topography, they had collected soil samples and, eventually, they returned to where they had come from, disappearing at enormous speed... I happen to know that authority did just about everything to keep this incident from the press and TV, in fear of a panicky reaction from the public."

Colonel L Gordon Cooper
Mercury Nine, Gemini Five Astronaut
